Heating, Cooling, Plumbing & Electrical in Sardis, BC

Heat pump, furnace, AC and water heater service for Sardis townhouses and detached homes on Chilliwack's busy south side.

Sardis Homes and the Systems That Keep Them Comfortable

Sardis is the busy heart of Chilliwack's south side. Luckakuck Way brings shoppers in from across the city, and the streets around it are lined with detached homes, apartments and a large number of townhouse complexes. A lot of those complexes went up in the early to mid-1990s, which means much of the original heating and cooling equipment in this part of town is now around 30 years old.

That is the story we hear most often in Sardis: a furnace or water heater that has simply reached the end of a long life, a townhouse upstairs that gets uncomfortably warm in August, or a strata council trying to plan replacements for dozens of units at once. We help with each of those, one home or one complex at a time.

Home Services in Sardis

Heating

Original gas furnaces in 1990s homes are often due for replacement. We repair what's worth repairing and give honest advice when replacement makes more sense.

Cooling

Two-storey townhouses trap heat upstairs. Adding central air, or replacing a worn-out unit, can make bedrooms far more livable in summer.

Heat Pumps & Mini-Splits

When an old furnace and AC both need replacing, a heat pump can take on heating and cooling in one system. Mini-splits suit townhouses where running new ductwork isn't practical.

Water Heaters & Plumbing

Many townhouses still have their first or second hot water tank. A tankless unit is worth considering when space is tight.

Indoor Air Quality

Older systems often run on thin filters. An upgraded filter can help with everyday dust and pollen.

Electrical

Adding a heat pump or EV charger to an older home sometimes needs more panel capacity first.

What Sardis' Climate and Housing Mean for Your Equipment

Sardis has deep roots for such a busy area. Early farmers settled here around 1860, and the name was suggested by Mrs. Vedder after the ancient capital of Lydia. The British Columbia Electric Railway reached Sardis in 1910. Today the neighbourhood is roughly framed by Highway 1 to the north and Evans Road to the west, with Sardis Park, home to resident swans, as a well-loved green space.

The climate on the valley floor here is wet more than it is cold. Long-term figures put average yearly precipitation around 1,538 mm, most of it as winter rain, with roughly 78 cm of snow in a typical year. August is the warmest month, with an average daily high of about 24°C, and hotter spells on top of that are common. In practical terms, that means a heating system that runs for long, damp months and a cooling system that has to handle a few weeks of real heat each summer.

That pattern is well suited to heat pumps. On a mild, rainy day a heat pump can carry the heating load quietly, and in summer the same system cools the house. For homes where a furnace is still in good shape, a heat pump can be paired with it so the furnace only takes over on the coldest nights.

The housing stock is the other half of the picture. Listings for local townhouse complexes, such as Springfield Place on Luckakuck Way, Willoughby on Vedder Road and Wells Brooke on Wells Road, show build years between about 1992 and 1995. Equipment of that age often still works, but parts get harder to find and efficiency falls behind newer models. Townhouses also bring their own puzzles: small mechanical closets, outdoor units that need strata approval, and shared walls that change how heat moves through a building. Planning around those details early tends to make a replacement go smoothly.

Working With Rep-Air in Sardis

Rep-Air is a locally owned contractor based in Mission. Our owner, Justin McIntyre, is a Red Seal HVACR technician and Class B gasfitter with 15+ years of experience.

Because so much of Sardis is townhouse and strata living, our Community Comfort Program is often a good fit. It's built for complexes that want to plan heating and cooling upgrades across many units instead of reacting to one breakdown at a time.
